This Privacy Policy explains how Salata Home Alerts collects, uses, and protects information related to SMS notifications sent from a private Home Assistant system.
1. Purpose of SMS Notifications
Salata Home Alerts is a personal residential home automation notification system. SMS messages are used only to send automated alerts related to home events, including but not limited to:
- Power outages and power restoration
- Security alerts
- Door, lock, and garage notifications
- Water leak alerts
- Home system status notifications
These messages are transactional and informational only. No marketing, promotional, or advertising messages are sent.
2. Information Collected
The personal information used for SMS notifications is limited to the mobile phone number, and, where provided through the sign-up form, the name of the individual requesting alerts. This information is either submitted through the sign-up form at salata.me/sms-alerts or entered directly into the private Home Assistant notification configuration by the homeowner or authorized recipient.
3. How Information Is Used
Mobile phone numbers are used solely to deliver SMS alerts related to the Salata Home Alerts system.
Phone numbers are not used for marketing, advertising, resale, or unrelated communications.
4. Information Sharing
Mobile phone numbers and any information collected through the sign-up form are not sold, rented, shared, or disclosed to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
SMS messages are delivered using Twilio, a third-party messaging provider, solely for the purpose of transmitting home automation alerts.
5. Opt-In Consent
Recipients opt in to receive SMS alerts through either of the following methods:
- Submitting their own name and mobile phone number through the sign-up form at salata.me/sms-alerts and checking the box consenting to receive automated home-system alerts; or
- Manually providing and configuring their own mobile phone number within the private Home Assistant system.
In all cases, the individual provides their own mobile number and gives consent themselves. No third party can subscribe another person’s number to receive messages, and consent is never bought, sold, or transferred.
6. Opt-Out
Recipients may opt out of SMS alerts at any time by replying STOP to any message.
Recipients may reply HELP for assistance.
7. Message Frequency and Rates
Message frequency varies based on home automation events. Message and data rates may apply.
8. Data Security
Reasonable measures are used to protect the phone number configured for SMS notifications. Access to the Home Assistant system is restricted to authorized users.
